Railroad Lilies used to grow along the railroad tracks and along country roads all over the country. Now they are prized for their wonderful color in private gardens. And unfortunately also prized by deer who seem to find them a delicious snack.
I just painted this small lily on an 8 x 10 inch gallery wrapped canvas. It will be for sale at The Joyful Jewel for $48.00.
In April I'm going to be the featured artist at The Joyful Jewel, a gallery in Pittsboro, NC. I've been painting sunflowers all winter, and my show will include a series of the paintings that I've done. I have found that painting sunflowers on a cold dreary winter day is a very a very cheering thing to do - along with a cup of hot chocolate.
This is one of the paintings that will be in the show - unless it sells beforehand! "Full Moon and Sunflower" SOLD
I'm looking forward to summer and trips to the beach! I love the beach fences and the way they create patterns and shadows on the dunes.
New painting, 8 x 8 inches, on a gallery wrapped canvas. It can be purchased through Pay Pal, and is only $45.00.
Original painting with doors and windows looking into the past and the future. I have used images from my own personal history to create this mixed media piece. A photograph of my parents at the beach in Florida in 1940, a picture of the ship "Excalibur" that my great grandmother took to Europe in the 1930's when she was 80 years old, a map of France, an old postcard from a long gone friend, a page from an old dictionary, an exposition poster, a rubber stamp of a palm tree, an armchair to contemplate it all in, and lots of colors and textures in acrylic paint. This piece is 24 x 30 inches x 1 1/2 inches deep. The edges are painted black and it is wired and ready to hang. Coated with a clear acrylic varnish for protection. It can be purchased in my Etsy shop.
I'm showing nine of my new garden paintings at the Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro, now through October 4th. The show is called "Summer Stories" and it is a 2 person show. The other artist is Cindy Bainbridge who is also a painter. She also makes incredible decorated birdhouses.
Here are a few of my new pieces in the show.
There will be a reception on Sunday Sept. 2nd from 4 to 6 PM.
I have a vintage shop on Etsy as well as the one where I sell my original artwork. This is a poster that I purchased in 1982 when I lived in Santa Fe. I understand that this poster is rather rare now. I have it for sale in my Etsy shop, Heronstreasures. SOLD
I've had a lot of trouble this summer with my daylilies getting eaten by deer. The deer just seem to know exactly when the buds are about to open; then they sneak in and the next morning - no daylilies!
I decided to do a series of paintings of the survivors. I've been taking photos and working from them. This is the first in the series, it is 16 x 20 inches and painted on a gallery wrapped canvas. Acrylic.
Now I can enjoy my daylilies all year long.
It can be purchased through my Etsy site. It is $225.00. It is Sold.
This table is made from a large pedestal that I recycled and added a top and a base made from the top of a stool. I found the stools at a yard sale and decided to paint the set with a sunburst pattern. The suns are marbelized in shades of yellow and ochre and the base has a peachy marbelized base. The background is a teal blue/green and I've added stars and spirals in copper.
Perfect for a small kitchen, a sunroom, or anywhere you'd like to have a place to enjoy a glass of wine or a snack.
This set is available for sale at The Joyful Jewel, a gallery in Pittsboro, NC. It is $275.00. SOLD
Several years ago I went to Chincoteague, VA and stayed in a house right across the street from this abandoned motel. The intercoastal waterway is in the background. I imagined how it was in it's heyday, before Chincoteague was all built up. The next year I went back to Chincoteague and the building was GONE! Only a vacant lot remained [probably built on by now.] The painting is on a 30 x 30 inch stretched canvas with staples on the back. Sides are painted as a continuation of the painting so it does not need a frame. Of course you could have it framed if you wish. Wired and ready to hang.
